Writing is a solitary endeavor, but you don’t need to do it alone.

Sometimes our inspiration comes in solitude, sometimes

in community.

Writers in Residence (WIR) events take place at the Whitehawk Ranch and provide a combination of those two experiences. The Writers’ Salon offers multiple WIR per calendar year to meet the needs of your creative process.

The spring and early summer sessions are each one week, and the autumn session is two contiguous weeks. Each session includes accommodations and breakfast and dinner each day, lots of generative time (solitary or group), a daily craft-talk during dinner, community discussion, and group sharing and reading each evening. The May 2022 WIR event participants receive an included one-on-one intensive with Sands Hall as a bonus for reserving a 5-night commitment.

Limited to six participants per session, each WIR event is anchored at the Whitehawk Lodge in Clio, CA. Additional one-on-one time with the WIR is available as an a la carte option by appointment.

The full session commitment is preferable, but shorter stays are welcome, with a minimum of two nights.

$275 per night/per person based on occupancy and length of stay (lower daily if full week), includes accommodation, 2 meals per day (breakfast and dinner), daily 3-hour WIR group session, and accommodation gratuity. Proof of current COVID vaccine required for registration.

Early bird discounts available. Contact The Writers’ Salon at for information and application.
