The Writers’ Salon was my first experience with spending an entire week dedicated to the art and practice of writing.  As such, I had little idea of what to expect, and nothing to compare it to.  The week was one of contrast -- busy yet relaxing, challenging yet supportive, providing a blend of camaraderie among like-minded souls, balanced with hours of solitary reflection and creativity.  For me this has truly been a transformative experience.  I have grown, not only to identify myself as a writer, but also to develop a much clearer understanding of my style and what I have to share.  The Writers’ Salon has pushed me to commit, to embrace the role of writing in my life, and to pursue it with intention.  Best of all, this occurred in a setting so peaceful and emotionally safe, that I didn’t even realize how hard I was working, or how much I had accomplished until just now…

By the time I’d completed my week with The Writer’s Salon, I left the Sierra Nevada rejuvenated, reinspired, and with a renewed sense of confidence. I found it a safe environment in which to take risks, the instantaneous feedback from the writing exercises invaluable, and the location perfect for when I needed a respite from creating—whether taking an invigorating hike or just sitting on my porch and drinking in the beauty of the Lost Sierra.
